Questions
What is an LRS?
A Learning Record Store keeps the records of what learners did: started a course, answered a question, passed. It speaks xAPI (also called Tin Can), the standard that modern authoring tools use for tracking. Learn Skills LRS is one, with the hosting and the reports built in, so you don’t have to deal with any of that.
I don’t have a course yet. Can you help?
Yes. Learn Skills, the team behind Learn Skills LRS, builds e-learning courses from your own material, with script, voiceover, subtitles and quizzes, and delivers them ready to upload. We can also supply ready-made course libraries.
Do I need to know xAPI?
No. Publish your course for an LMS as you normally would and upload the zip. If you or your developers do want the xAPI side, your endpoint and keys are on the “LRS & keys” page.
Do learners need an account?
No. With the course link they give their name and email once. In Moodle or another LMS they are recognised from their LMS account, without being asked.
Does it work with my LMS?
Yes. Moodle, Canvas, Blackboard, Brightspace and other LMSs with LTI 1.3 connect once: teachers then pick your courses from a list, learners come with their name and email, and scores go to the gradebook. For any other LMS there is a small SCORM 1.2 package, which Moodle, Totara and almost every LMS accept. Either way the course runs from us, so an update reaches every LMS at once.
Can my clients see their own results?
Yes. Put their learners in a group and share a read-only report or training matrix with a link, or have a summary emailed to them every week or month. On Pro and Business the emails and your sign-in page can carry your own branding.
Can results go to our CRM?
On the Business plan, yes. Connect HubSpot and learners’ courses, status and scores appear on their contacts as they happen, with a note for each completion. A webhook sends the same to Zapier, Make, Power Automate (for Dynamics) or your own systems.
What happens when I reach a limit on the free plan?
People who already started this month carry on. New learners are asked to come back later, and you get a note to upgrade. Paid plans are never cut off.
Where is my data kept?
In Ireland, in the EU. You can take all of it with you at any time through the standard xAPI interface.
Can I cancel?
Yes, any time, from the billing page. Your plan runs until the end of the period you paid for.
